If your collections have grown beyond what a spreadsheet can handle, Ashampoo Collector is the upgrade you have been waiting for. This powerful, free-to-use desktop application gives collectors and organizers a clean, structured environment to catalog virtually anything, from physical media and memorabilia to digital assets and hobby items. No more sticky notes, no more scattered lists. Just one tidy, searchable database that grows with your collection.
Key features
- Universal cataloging: Build custom databases for any type of collection, including books, vinyl records, games, models, stamps, and more.
- Custom fields and categories: Tailor every entry with user-defined fields so your catalog reflects exactly the data that matters to you.
- Image support: Attach cover art, photos, or scans to each item for a rich, visual browsing experience.
- Powerful search and filter: Instantly locate any item using keyword search, category filters, or custom field queries.
- Import and export options: Move your data in and out easily, making backups and sharing your catalog simple and reliable.
- Loan tracking: Keep a record of items you have lent out so nothing goes missing from your collection.
- Intuitive interface: A clean, beginner-friendly layout means you spend time organizing, not learning menus.
Who is it for
Ashampoo Collector is built for anyone who owns more than they can track from memory. Hobbyists with growing libraries of books, comics, or DVDs will appreciate the structured entry system and image attachments. Gamers cataloging physical and digital titles get the loan-tracking feature as a welcome bonus. Home organizers managing household inventories, tools, or seasonal items will find the custom fields indispensable. Small collectors who have outgrown basic spreadsheets but do not need enterprise software will feel right at home here. Essentially, if you collect it, this app can catalog it.
How it compares
- CLZ Cloud (Collectorz.com): A well-established suite of dedicated apps for books, movies, music, and games that syncs across devices via the cloud, making it a strong choice for multi-device users who prioritize platform integration.
- Tellico: A free, open-source collection manager available primarily on Linux that offers deep customization and plugin support, but requires more technical comfort to configure effectively.
- LibreOffice Base: A free relational database tool that can be shaped into a collection catalog, but demands considerable manual setup and database knowledge with no ready-made collector templates out of the box.
- GCstar: An open-source desktop organizer with preset templates for common collection types that has a loyal user base, though its development activity has slowed considerably in recent years.
Ashampoo Collector sits in the sweet spot between lightweight freeware and subscription-based specialist apps. It is the right pick for Windows users who want a polished, no-cost solution with a clean interface and flexible structure, without committing to a recurring fee or tackling a steep learning curve. If you want professional results without the price tag, this is your best starting point.
Ashampoo Collector sounds like a practical step up when a collection outgrows a spreadsheet. I’m curious which collection types and cataloging features it supports best.

This is another of those undesirable adware ashampoo app controlled environments. You could also try https://lignup.com/ multicollector free, I had an older version giveaway… populated a tiny database and found it works but I have no need for such a program.
