ALL allavsoft updates are just refreshes of the yt-dlp_x86 executable file and a minor version number tweak… there is NO NEED to wait for a fresh giveaway of this as one can simply tell the yt-dlp_x86 executable to self update by running and admin command prompt in the installation folder and execute the update command line switch -U and IF there is an update to counter the software countermeasures youtube have implemented to try and defeat these illegal downloaders.
Note this developer is also stealing in this case two copies in different version of GPLv3 licensed FFMPEG.ORG binaries one in the screen recorder section and one in the downloader section. They COULD have used the legal to use in a closed source combined work the LGPLv3 builds of the software but have chosen to steal the illegal to distribute in a closed source combined work GPLv3 build.
I don’t bother to update the program any more with the official releases any more and just update the required modules when the need arises. To date there has been NO changes to the GUI to make the official updates worth waiting for and then installing. The developer COULD EASILY install admin task jobs to auto check for updates periodically… but if he did that he’d have nothing else to do to get people to buy an update to fix youtube!
NOTE if you try and download an entire youtube playlist with this software YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED BY YOUTUBE to prove you are not using an automated downloader/bot (Which you are) by demanding you to login with a valid google account which will be at risk of being banned because they have evidence by the order which the files are downloaded i.e. it never downloads the audio first then the video like a normal player but instead downloads the video first which takes a considerable time and then the audio soundtrack and then any .srt file if supported or wanted… the opposite order ANY youtube player, web based or mobile device app would download the files. If youtube had any wisdom they would decline the initial download of a video file before the sound track file and subtitle files why they don’t is likely so they can detect stupid illegal downloaders like those that use the yt-dlp code base and try and tie them to real people with login prompts and build cases against them for future legal action.
